Connect your own domain

Your PoolSpartan website, signup page, and customer portal can live on a domain you own — yourpoolcompany.com instead of yourpoolcompany.poolspartan.com. Your customers see your brand, your address bar, your business. The PoolSpartan address keeps working either way, and the HTTPS certificate is issued and renewed automatically — nothing to buy, nothing to install.

Before you start

  • You need a domain you already own (bought from a registrar like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or Squarespace). Any registrar works.
  • In PoolSpartan, go to Settings → Website → Custom Domains and click Create Domain. Enter your domain (for example yourpoolcompany.com) — we add www. automatically.
  • The app then shows you the exact DNS records to create. They'll look like the table below, but always copy the values from the app — they can change over time.

The records you'll create

TypeName (host)Value (points to)What it does
A@the IP address shown in the appSends yourpoolcompany.com to your site
CNAMEwwwyour PoolSpartan address — e.g. yourpoolcompany.poolspartan.com (shown in the app)Sends www.yourpoolcompany.com to your site

Occasionally the app will also show a TXT record — that's a one-time ownership check. Create it exactly as shown.

After you save the records, you're done — we check automatically and the status on the Custom Domains page moves from “Awaiting DNS” to “Active” on its own. DNS changes usually land within minutes but can take up to 48 hours to reach us.

GoDaddy

  1. Sign in at godaddy.com and open My Products.
  2. Next to your domain, choose DNS (or Manage DNS).
  3. Under DNS Records, click Add New Record. Create the A record: Type A, Name @, Value = the IP from the app. Leave TTL at the default.
  4. Add the second record: Type CNAME, Name www, Value = your PoolSpartan address from the app.
  5. If GoDaddy warns that a record already exists for @ or www (often a “Parked” record), edit that record to the new value instead of adding a duplicate.

Namecheap

  1. Sign in and open Domain List → Manage next to your domain.
  2. Open the Advanced DNS tab.
  3. Click Add New Record: A Record, Host @, Value = the IP from the app, TTL Automatic.
  4. Add a CNAME Record, Host www, Value = your PoolSpartan address from the app.
  5. Delete Namecheap's default “Parking page” records for @ and www if present — they'll fight yours.

Cloudflare

  1. Sign in and select your domain, then open DNS → Records.
  2. Add an A record: Name @, IPv4 = the IP from the app. Set the proxy status to “DNS only” (gray cloud) — the orange-cloud proxy will break certificate issuance.
  3. Add a CNAME: Name www, Target = your PoolSpartan address from the app, also DNS only.

Somewhere else?

Every registrar has a DNS records screen — look for “DNS Management”, “DNS Settings”, or “Advanced DNS”. Create the same two records from the table above and leave TTL at the default. If you can't find it, email us and we'll point you to the right screen.

Troubleshooting

  • Still “Awaiting DNS” after a while? DNS can take up to 48 hours to propagate, and we keep checking the whole time. If it's been longer, re-open the record editor and compare every value character-for-character with what the app shows.
  • Status says “Check DNS”? The domain was working and a record changed or disappeared. Your site is still up — put the records back and the status recovers on its own.
  • Using Cloudflare and stuck? Nine times out of ten the record is orange-clouded. Switch it to DNS only (gray cloud).
  • Stuck anyway? Email support@poolspartan.com with your domain name and a screenshot of your DNS records — we'll spot it.

What about Apple Pay and the map?

Wallet payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay) and the service-area map on your site are enabled for your new domain automatically once it's active. If you connected the domain before finishing payment setup, wallet payments switch on by themselves when your payment account is approved — nothing for you to do.
